Meet Will Smith 💻
People always joked, "You're Will Smith? Like Bad Boys 2?"
He hated it.
Will was a 28 year-old IT Manager who you'd pity at first.*
He worked at EduGreat, a software company in New York that made educational apps.
Will solved complex problems every day and saved the company from losing $100,000s.
He was also underpaid and unappreciated.
It wasn’t that he hated his job or the company. He just felt invisible and stuck.
But he didn't want to quit. He wanted to be a respected employee who earned what he was worth. He wanted to be a leader with real impact.
He wanted to be an irreplaceable pillar.
Side hustle magic? 🪄🎩
Doom scrolling on LinkedIn one night, he signed up for 2 email courses to learn new skills and get unstuck.
The courses were:
• "Break Out of Your 9 - 5 Rut."
• "The 10x Value Formula."
He started with the 1st course. It sounded more realistic than the 2nd one, which sounded a little like clickbait.
He was curious about this “10x formula” though.
The first course encouraged him to start his own business.
He thought having a side hustle was good, so he joined SideWork, a platform for freelancers.
He got his first client within a week: a small bakery that wanted a new website.
He loved almond croissants, so he was excited.

The client was vague and unrealistic from the start.
They wanted a logo, a blog, a menu, a contact form, an online order form, plus more features in only 3 days.
When Will tried to clarify their specifications, they were confusing or unresponsive.
He spent a week and a half working on their website, neglecting his main job and getting bloated on junk food.
He hated the project and wanted to quit, but he didn't.
He delivered the website and hoped they would be satisfied and grateful.
They weren't.
They demanded endless changes and revisions.
They delayed payment and threatened to leave him a bad review.
The 2nd course 👀
Frustrated and exhausted, he suspended his SideWork profile.
He went back and read the 2nd email course: "The 10x Value Formula."
He was a little surprised to learn that 10x employees actually existed** and there was a real formula.
Most people are producing a ton of value at work, but it's being wasted.
The 10x value formula was a 3-step process to stop wasting value.
The techniques in the course came from researchers and top career growth experts.
The formula was field-tested by people like Will who were talented but undervalued.
