5 Insider Tips To ACE Your Next Job Interview

“We'd like to schedule an interview with you.”

It's for your dream job.

Adrenaline? Check.
Confidence? TBD.

With the right preparation and mindset, you can ace the interview.

Here are 5 insider tips that will put you in the driver's seat

1. Do Your Homework 📚 :

Research is crucial. Dive deep into understanding the company, its culture, mission, and vision, recent achievements and milestones.

If possible, talk to people who left it recently. Find them on LinkedIn. Ask them if they'd be willing to share their experience.

2. Nail Your Story👌:

Your response to "tell me about yourself" sets the tone for the entire interview.

Keep it brief and compelling. Highlight strengths and achievements that align with the role.

DO NOT tell your whole story.

Highlights only.

“Above the fold.”

Hook their attention.

Say only enough to intrigue them. Then pause and say, “I'm happy to say more, but I'll pause here for your thoughts.”

3. Anticipate Common Interview Questions 🧠:

Practice answering typical job interview questions in front of a mirror. Even better, record them. This enables you to review and refine your responses.

Use AI to come up with a lost of questions.

Paste in the job description and your resume and ask it:

“Based on this job description amd my resume, what are the 10 most likely questions the interviewer will ask me?”

4. Clarity Is Key 🔑 :

Avoid jargon and acronyms, unless you've confirmed that the interviewer knows them too.

Keep your responses short, above all.

Interviewers are just people. They have to do tons of interviews. Extra work. No fun for them. If you can make it a pleasant and interesting conversation, you'll be ahead of everyone else.

The secret?

Invite the interviewer to talk, any chance you get. The more they're talking, the better you're doing.

5. Ask Insightful Questions 🕵️‍♂️ :

You're secretly interviewing the interviewer too. It's about you getting a feel for the company and the job.

Come prepared with questions that will help you understand what problems the company is trying to solve by hiring you.

Now you know these 5 essential strategies. It's time to put them into action.
