Navigating a maze is a lot harder when you’re blindfolded, right?
Interviews are like mazes.
Preparing for interviews is a crucial step in your professional growth.
Former FBI Hostage Negotiator Chris Voss said: “We don’t rise to the occasion. We fall to our highest level of preparation.”
To make a good first impression, you need to be prepared.
Preparation maximizes confidence, reduces anxiety, and helps you communicate effectively.
Preparation and success go hand in hand.
Gain clarity about your unique value narrative.
You’re special. Do you know why? If not, you won’t be able to communicate your value.
Confidence comes from knowing that you’re not like everyone else, and what you can offer to a company is a “value blend” that only you have.
Career coaching can help you figure out what makes you special, and help you construct the right story around it, so you can communicate it easily.
It’s personalized guidance to help you navigate your career journey.
Overall, Career Coaches can provide valuable insights and strategies that help you effectively prepare for interviews.
One of my most valuable tips for preparation is to memorize scripts for getting out of questions you don’t have a good answer for.
If you ever get stuck with an interview question, you can use these 2 scripts:
1. "I can't believe it, but nothing is coming to mind yet. Would you be able to give me an example from your experience? Maybe it'll help jog my memory?"
2. "I can't think of an answer that would really fit for this. Would it be ok if we came back to it later?"
Memorize these.
Use them when you get stuck.
Warmly,
